Ceramic Studies in Archaeology: An Updated Exploration of Materials Science Methods in Anthropology: Conclusion

By Charles C. Kolb

Conclusion

THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF THIS ESSAY concentrated on the dynamic interplay between anthropological archaeology and materials science. The current essay expands on this, taking into consideration the growing emphasis on interpreting scientific data through social scientific and humanistic lenses. Because of this, the majority of works cited here can be subdivided into two main areas of consideration: physicochemical methodologies and interpretive assessments. Archaeologists who understand how to integrate these components can glean important technical, sociocultural, and behavioral information from ceramic materials. It is this essay’s aim to assist readers in accomplishing this synthesis to gain greater insight into ceramic studies in archaeology.
