Conclusion

The post-9/11 era has seen an explosion of literature about the moral implications of torture and its use in the War on Terror. These subjects remain in the news today, as more and more documents from the Bush era come to light and are released to the public. The vast array of literature on these topics helps situate torture in historical context in order to gain an understanding of how torture has been used, even within democratic states.
