Design thinking books provide basic design thinking themes, specific tools, and cases of success. Some basic themes include understanding consumer’s problems through observation and other activities, ideation, experimentation, lean prototyping, learning from failures, disruptive ideas, empathy for the consumer, focusing on emotions rather than logic, and being open to a wide variety of solutions. Creativity and diverse teams are important for the entire process. Some specific tools include storyboards, business model canvases, empathy maps, balanced scorecards, divergent thinking, rules for brainstorming, and journey maps.
